Faculty: Dr. Audra King
Audra King has joined the CCSU philosophy department this year. Her areas of teaching and research are contemporary social and political philosophy and global justice, with special interest in the links between justice and oppression, applied ethics, and feminist theory. Her dissertation is entitled Justice, Development, and Just Development: A Gendered Institutional Analysis of International Development. She argues for the democratization of decision-making in global development on the basis that more inclusive decision-making procedures produce more just and more effective visions and policies of development. Prof King is also working on a paper in which she addresses the normative implications of oppression for theorizing about justice. Outside of her work in philosophy, she enjoys playing and running with her dog, Mackenzie, going to see live music, crocheting, and working with different social justice groups.
